Helping world-class scientists find a cure
The Queensland Institute of Medical Research is a world-class facility regarded as a centre for excellence in cutting-edge medical research. QIMR scientists continue to make significant discoveries in the fight against skin cancers.
Two out of three Australians will be affected by skin cancer, causing Australia to have the highest rates of skin cancer in the world. Suncorp, through its SunWise program, is working with QIMR to educate communities on the dangers of skin cancer and the vital importance of prevention, via grass roots programs, on-line education; partner programs; fundraising activities; and a SunWise Ambassador program. A prominent television campaign was also launched by Suncorp, in partnership with QIMR, in 2005/2006.
The program’s significant achievements were recognized in 2007 when Suncorp and QIMR were awarded the Queensland Prime Minister’s Award for Community Partnerships.
